The Bridges of Cedar Creek and the Valley Pike

Join us for a presentation by Strasburg native and local historian, Daniel Downey, about the progression of bridge building on the Valley Pike at Cedar Creek over two centuries. Three different eras of highway development at this site will be discussed as well as the importance of the Valley Pike in commerce and travel, Civil War events and Stickley, Hite and Bowman family ties to the area. Meet at the old Daniel Stickley farm north of Strasburg. Park at the historic markers off Rt. 11 at Cedar Creek. Weather permitting, a walking tour to the old bridge abutment along the trace of the original Pike will be conducted. Bring your own chairs! In case of rain the presentation will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church 193 W. Washington St. Strasburg. To be held Sunday, Sept. 16, 2-4PM. Hosted by Strasburg Heritage Association.
